Giving MBBS aspirants a reason to rejoice, the state Cabinet of Uttar Pradesh recently approved the proposal for the construction of 14 new medical colleges in the state. The Cabinet also okayed the cost of the project and other requirements necessary for the establishment. The proposed new medical colleges will be attached along with the existing District Medical Infrastructure.

The UP government has allocated Rs.21,000 crore For the establishment of 14 new medical colleges. The information came to light as Suresh Khanna, the state finance minister, presented the budget for the year 2022-2023 on May 26.

This announcement comes less than a month after the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, announced the establishment of a foundation for 14 new medical colleges.

The state Cabinet of Uttar Pradesh has approved the proposal for the construction of 14 new medical colleges in the state in 2020. The proposed new medical colleges will be attached along with the existing district or referral hospitals. Once functional, at least 45 districts of the state will have the availability of a government medical College. The state is giving importance to a public-private partnership model for the rest of the districts.

With the new budget of Rs.21,000 crore, the State medical College has received a much-needed financial boost. The government intends to improve the healthcare sector infrastructure by ensuring the availability of the workforce. The construction of 40 new medical colleges will make medical education accessible to students in their state. Every year, a large number of medical students and applicants from Uttar Pradesh take the NEET exam. An increase in several medical institutes in Uttar Pradesh would give students more possibilities for pursuing a medical career and fulfilling their dream to become a doctor.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated nine colleges in Uttar Pradesh, In the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, and Jaunpur. With the inauguration of these nine new medical colleges, the total number of medical colleges in the state has gone up to 48. The scheme proposed 28 colleges office 14 were proposed in that two phases. In its budget for 2022-2023, the UP government outlined its five-year vision. The development of medical colleges would help not just in the advancement of medical education in the state but also would strengthen the state's infrastructure.
